An art crime expert tells Channel 4 News that he believes the stolen Henry
Moore sculpture was taken by a gang of Irish travellers who have already
sold it on for a mere £3,000.
It was an audacious theft - a two tonne sculpture valued at around £3
million stolen quite blatantly from a sculpture park in Hertfordshire.
The private investigator who claims to know of the thieves says that for
them, it was nothing more than a "good night's work."
It's fair to say that generally nothing much has happened in Much Hadham or
its neighbouring hamlet of Perry Green - well not since Henry Moore passed a
way ninetneen years ago.
It's a pretty and quiet and uneventful part of the Hertfordshire countryside
- a place where Moore drew, sculpted and lived.
Well it was quiet - so quiet in fact that it took a while for anyone to
notice something was missing.
Today's claims come just as a £100,000 reward has been offered for the
sculpture's return.
