Art thieves on the loose

Authorities are searching for information that will lead to the recovery of
stolen artwork and the arrest of suspects believed responsible for taking
the two lithographs earlier this week from a Palm Desert gallery.
The pieces, "The Tribe of Dan" by Marc Chagall and "Femme Regardant par la
Fenetre" by Pablo Picasso are valued at more than $100,000.

The thefts occurred Tuesday shortly after 11 p.m. from the Modern Masters
Fine Art gallery at 73-200 El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert.

The suspects may have been seen as they fled, officials said. They were seen
driving away in a new, gray, "sporty type" Mercedes.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Riverside
County Sheriff's Department at 836-1676.
