ALBUQUERQUE -- Police credit a slamming door for foiling an art theft from a
downtown Albuquerque hotel.
Police say two men tried to take a large painting from the hotel over the
weekend, but a slamming door alerted security guards.

The guards chased the men, who dropped the painting in a downtown parking
garage.

The guards caught one man.

Albuquerque police arrested 22-year-old Marco Arrelo on charges of larceny
and conspiracy to commit a felony.

The men allegedly wanted to steal the painting for one of their living
rooms.

Court records say the painting was worth up to $10,000.
