Mengrelian treasures returned to Zugdidi museum
Unique artifacts removed from the Zugdidi historical museum in the 1940s
have been returned to the museum, Black Sea Press reports.
Museum Director Kakhaber Partsvania said that the objects include a baroque
table belonging to the last princess of Samegrelo Ekaterina
Chavchavadze-Dadiani, which is part of David Dadiani's set of office
furniture kept in the museum. The table was found in one of the rooms of the
Zugdidi Drama Theater.
Eighteen books from the Prince Dadiani library bearing dates from the 1930s
have also been returned to the museum. The artifacts are currently being
restored and will be placed on display in the next two months.
