La Paz, Bolivia -- Más de 200 obras coloniales se perdieron de Iglesias,

fragmentos de altares", afirmó Lupe Meneces, funcionaria del Viceministerio
de Cultura.

Constantemente se denuncia el robo de obras coloniales fundamentalmente en
templos rurales, sin que la Policía pueda hacer nada pues las pistas son muy
pocas y generalmente son redes internacionales que sacan las piezas al
exterior. 

Ante este hecho, el subdirector Nacional de la Policía Técnica Judicial
(PTJ), coronel Edgar Escobar, dijo que se hace imprescindible dotar a las
Iglesias y otros centros de una red de circuito cerrado de seguridad, que
contemple alarmas, cámara de video y otras que son imprescindibles para
evitar el robo de esas piezas.

"Necesitamos que tengan la seguridad que hay en Calamarca, donde los
arcángeles de Calamarca tienen circuitos cerrados, tienen alarmas y todos
las piezas coloniales tendrían que tener ese tipo de seguridad", afirmó
Escobar.

Un caso concreto se denunció en Challapampa- Chuquisaca, donde varias piezas
arqueológicas, algunas de oro, desaparecieron del Museo de la Isla del Sol
en los últimos tres años, según denunció Lidia Rodríguez, abogada de los
comunarios de esa población rural.

El Museo de la Isla del Sol fue fundado con 397 piezas de cerámica, de metal
y de oro. Según Rodríguez, hace más de tres años, los campesinos detectaron
que el repositorio estaba siendo desmantelado. 

Paradójicamente, el museo está equipado con una vitrina antibalas para
resguardar las piezas de oro, por lo que su seguridad estaría garantizada.
